A Beta Marinetti Link Layer driver that is compatible with Uther has been developed

Ewen Wannop (of Spectrum Fame) co-developed the Link Layer.
Ewen was responsible for streamlining the code, migrated code to 16 bit,
implemented both DHCP support and the configuration dialog.

Code also includes parts of IP65 courtesy of MagerValp

A Beta verison (Revision - 1.0.1b5.) of the driver is available to be tested.

The Link Layer is open source software. It will be available via the Marinetti Open Source Project on the sourceforge site

To use the Link Layer you will need to go to the Marinetti web page
http://www.apple2.org/marinetti/
and and make sure you have

Marinetti3.0b1
Marinetti3.0b1.SHK

TCPIP INIT 3.0b3
TCPIP30b3.SHK

and you need to get a copy of the Link Layer 1.0.1b5
UtherLL.SHK

UNSHK it into your system/tcpip folder

Afer you restart Marinetti you will need to configure the link layer via the TCP/IP control panel

Also check the user forums for the most up to date information available.

Known issues

  1. This information is in serious need of an update. If you have tested any of these applications and can supply updates please send them to support@a2retrosystems.com
  2. When connect messages are set to display, then garbage is displayed on the screen during disconnect phase
  3. Some applications (2 telnet apps so far) will not connect on the first attempt. Trying to connect to a non existant tcp/ip name first, which fails and then the correct name on the second and subsequent attempt(s) work.
  4. Sometimes I get "Infinite loop while walking icon resources". This is an indication that memory corruption is occuring somewhere.
